STEP 3: What’s Next?

Hello!

You’ve either been directed here after passing the Webworks test without a hitch, or you’ve practiced your Calculus and Precalculus skills and you feel confident in your assessment of your own abilities. Either way, this is the place to be once you feel confident in how you want to move forward.

Know that your course decisions are not final until the semester starts and you’ve had a chance to talk to your advisor. At the start of the year, there will be an opportunity (called the Academic Tea) to meet all the supportive people in the math department, and below we provide you with an email to a member of the faculty with whom you can chat this summer.

THE ACADEMIC TEA:
Keep on the lookout for the time and location of the Academic Tea. Math Professors and students will be there and will be happy to give you information and answer your questions about Math 118 and other details about the Math and Statistics Department at Haverford, such as which classes majors and minors have to take and what sorts of paths you might go take after studying math at Haverford. You would also be welcome to ask which Professor makes the best chocolate cake, the worst math puns, and the quickest homemade bread.

For more information or advice about Math 118, you can email Professor Jeff Tecosky-Feldman at jtecosky@haverford.edu.
For questions about how to use the website or a student perspective on the course and math majoring in general, you can also contact Jenn (jjolivert@haverford.edu), Amy (azamora@haverford.edu), or Damon (dmotzsto@haverford.edu). All three of us are students majoring in math, and we built many of the materials on this site.

If you took advantage of the practice materials, we hope you’ve enjoyed them. Please send us commentary on our work! Otherwise, enjoy the rest of your summer, and have a great first semester!

All the Best,
-Tatiana (Class of 2015), Tionney (’17), Jenn (’18), Amy (’18), and Damon (’16).

So you decided to take Calc 118 after all! Lucky for you, this website is no longer only a preparatory tool, but is also an aid for your time in Calc 118!
