The Fundamental Theorem of Calculus

It is one of the great miracles of mathematics that derivatives and integrals are connected to one another. The processes of finding geometric areas and calculating velocities seemed like very unrelated things, and yet the Fundamental Theorem of CalculusĀ directly connects these concepts and shows that integrating a function and then deriving it with respect to the same variableĀ gives you back the very same function you started with.
