Loganian society catalogue

The catalogue of the Loganian Society exemplifies the stewardship that student society members took over their own libraries. Such libraries provided supplementary reading for students and faculty members affiliated with the society. However, other societies like the Everett Society, were known to keep “secret libraries” that included popular reading such as novels as The History of Tom Jones by Henry Fielding. Such reading was frowned upon by the College and when discovered, was confiscated. Ultimately, the Loganian Society’s library became part of the official College library holdings.
