The Loganian Society held an annual, public meeting at which students would deliver orations. Such meetings provided a forum and a public audience for students to voice their opinion on a range of topics from ancient history to current events. For example, the year of 1885 included four speeches from students: “The Eleventh Plague of Egypt,” “Living Memorials,” “ Abolitionism,” and “An English Poetess.”
