Songbooks were among the accoutrements of the cremation ceremony. Students composed a few original songs for the occasion including one in the Class of ’85 songbook that cast blame on the embodied book, “Thy problems, oh Wheeler, with malice planned to perplex the Sophomore.” A range of songs from popular culture also populated the compilation including, “My Country ’Tis of Thee,””Darling Nelly Gray,”“When the Swallows Homeward Fly ,”and “Rock-a-by, Baby.”
